Orange is the new red

So last night I went to a french restaurant here on the island called "La Belle Vie". The atmosphere was awesome (outdoors except for the mosquitoes) and so was the food- I had the Filet Mignon- I am still stuffed. I wore a black asymmetric mini dress and normally I would rock a red lip but I decided to do try an orange lip inspired by Eva Marcille's look- Neutral eye makeup with an orange lip.

On my baby- tezzy, just as sexy as her owner. Im going to miss her :(
Pics taken with my phone cam.
I also tried out a sample of Coastalscents HD Liquid Foundation in 11. It was a bit yellow for my skin tone but it blended well and provided good coverage. My skin looked soft and smooth and dewy.

Today's Wishlist item- Coral Lipstick

I was checking out some of my favourite blogs and I came across a pic of Adrienne Bailon- from 3LW/ Cheetah Girls wearing these amazing earrings from Badacious- they were  multicoloured huge doorknocker earrings called 1991 ($36US)- so 90's. I fell in love with them. Unfortunately they are sold out.  You can check out their website here-> www.badacious.com.

So not only did I fall for the earrings but I fell for the gorg coral lipstick she was wearing. When I bought Candy Pink by Revlon I actually started researching coral lipstick and was planning to get one for the summer so now that I saw her wearing it I was convinced I should get one. The closest thing I have in coral is MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Gentle Coral which goes on very sheer and looks very orange in the jar.  Coral lipsticks are tricky because they can range from pink to red to orange colours. I just think most people don't really know what coral looks like so the range is wide lol.

All wearing different shades of coral lipstick

Wish list item for the week

Hi Beauties, just doing a quick post on my wish list item for the week. I was at a party on Saturday night and my friend Alicha introduced me to this stylish woman, who coincidentally loves leopard print and was rocking  my mohawk (before i grew it out). I loved her the minute I saw her, some how we got to talking about pink lipsticks and she pulled this one out of her bag..... called Candy Pink by Revlon. It was this gorg cotton candy pink colour that I convinced myself I have to try so today I began looking for it online.

$10 Dollar Beauty

Hey Beauties,

I recently got some goodies from Elf at www.eyeslipsface.com (Check it out). I must say that the most I spent was like $10 US for about 6 products. If you are on a budget you should definitely consider ELF cosmetics, you get quality for amazing affordable prices. The packaging reminds me of NARS Cosmetics

I got a Tinted Moisturizer in Dark/ Mocha with SPF 20. ($3) This was my favourite buy. I have stopped using liquid foundation for the summer during day time and I use powder alone, but that means I would have to put on sunscreen so I found an alternative. The colour blends really well, it doesn't look or feel too heavy, medium coverage and it has SPF FOR 3 BUCKS! This is great for the gals who don't like liquid foundation and want some kind of coverage. Beauty doesn't have to break the bank.

Wearing ELFs tinted moisturizer in dark/Mocha and the Translucent Mattifying Powder to set it.

ELF Butternut Eyes

ELF goodies along with some coastalscents goodies

Cheeks done using Costalscents Sunless body art Bronzer in Dark $7.95 and NARS Exhibit A
Goodies Include:

ELF Eyelid Primer $2.00

Butternut

Brightening Eye Color       $1.00

Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 Mocha  $3.00

Natural Lash Kit-Black      $1.00

My Review of NARS Exhbit A

Hi Beauties, Remember Melisa wearing this same blush? Well it works for both complexions, I just have to wear mine a little lighter. I was so excited to receive this that I wore it today. The package is a little small for the price but a little goes a long way with this blush.  I love this colour for summer, its this coral/ orange-red colour. Great for our skin tones- from light to dark. Key to making a bright blush look subtle is to use a big fluffy blush or powder brush, tap off the excess, smile then apply to the apples of your cheeks, I contoured with Rimmel Bronzer before applying Exhibit A to define my cheekbones. I also choose to blend my blush upwards in circular motions right up to my temple. The point of blush is to give your cheeks definition, make them stand out, you don't want the blush to overpower you and with a bright colour like this it could end up wearing you. If you need more colour keep applying til you get what you are looking for. It takes me about two attempts to get enough colour with alot of blending. I paired Exhibit A with a copperish smokey eye and peach nude lips.  Over all I give it 4 out of 5 just because of the price for the size. NARS Exhibit ($27) at sephora.com.

Classic look- inspired by Audrey Hepburn

Hey Beauties, this was me yesterday. I think a red lip for work is fine as long as its a really subtle shade. I did a neutral eye with a red lip and my pearls to add to the classic look.  I also did my hair in a bouffant - Inspired by Audrey Hepburn in one of my favourite movies- Breakfast at Tiffany's. I love classic movies. Don't mind the cleavage, I had a jacket on at work.

I'm also in the transition of growing out my hair and so if you are like me bobby pins can become your best friend. This is an easy style for those who kept the back of their hair short. I just pinned the hair to the side and left the back down in a short of mohawk with the front in a poof or peacock. Yes black women can be inspired by Hollywood legends for every day styles :)

Imitation is the best form of flattery- me sans the tiara and the cigarette :)

Work makeup

Hey beauties,so its another work week and I was feeling a bit inspired with my makeup the past few days. On Monday I was inspired by the purple poka dot shift dress I wore with a black boyfriend jacket and some lavender Aldo pumps.  I tell people this is my 5 minute face and they don't believe me. If I do work on my eyes, I spend most of my times on blending and keep the lips simple with just some light gloss. In this case its the stila baby pink gloss (because pink lips and purple shadow work well together) Also for the summer I opt not to wear liquid foundation instead I prime my face with my GOSH primer or my Ponds Clarant Oil Control Lotion and then just apply my MAC Studio fix foundation plus powder and to set it I use rice powder and mist my face with MAC Fix Spray plus. The flash picks up the rice powder on my face but it doesn't look that ghost like in natural lighting.
This is my version of a reverse purple smokey eye using colours from coastalscents 36 smokey eye palette

 Have a good week.

Pink Crackle Nails

These were my nails for the weekend which didn't last past Sunday due to the amount of dishes I had to wash from our Sunday Dinner. I used LA Girl Flare Bright  Delight (pink) and Mia Secret Crackle polish (black) This is the only crackle I own as I wasn't really impressed with the effects. I might get a white and dark blue later on just for the fun of it.

Oldie but goodie

Its been almost 3 months since my birthday and I am just posting these pics. I'm very ashamed. But better late than never. I wore this gorgeous satin royal blue dress from ASOS with bright fuschia lips courtesy of NYC cosmetics. Its a really nice blue based pink lipstick- one of my favs. It went well with my fuchsia bag that I got from my cousin - Kari a few years ago. I had fun eating sushi with the bf at the Marriott hotel- only spot in St. Kitts where you can find sushi. I think this is our second year I've had sushi with him for my birthday- last year in Halifax. Earlier that day we went on a catamaran cruise to Nevis which was so much fun. And I picked up my cake from my old college roommate Angelle who did an awesome job with the description I  gave her. I also spotted one of my favourite bloggers in the same colour combo I wore on her blog moptopmaven which I think is down because she is sick unfortunately.

Cheers to still being in our 20's
