Natural Makeup

Hi Beauties, thought I'd share my natural makeup routine with you which is pretty much my every day makeup. This is for those women who also don't like to wear "too much" makeup and want  a simple every day routine. On the days that I do go to school, I don't even wear makeup (because we do each other's makeup). Bascially I  wear a bright lip and a simple eye look with eyeliner and mascara or a natural lip colour and a bright eyeshadow. We have been practising natural makeup in school alot and the routine that we use is
1. Start with an even base- foundation, concealer and powder. Choose a foundation that let's your skin's natural undertone come through or one that provides medium coverage. I like MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural or Stila Natural Finish Oil -Free Foundation.
2 Use a blush that mimics your faces natural flush (nothing too shimmery or sparkley) Just a sweep of colour ( I use matte bronzer to achieve this because I don't naturally flush pink) lol I find that for women of colour it works to mimic your skin's natural glow also perhaps use a cream bronzer or highlighter to achieve this. Try Stila's convertible color blush in Camellia or PeonyIt is Non-greasy, this creamy, sheer tint adds an inherent glow to the cheeks while lips bloom with fresh, radiant color. I also like Stila Rouge Pot in Plumeria and MAC Raizin Blush.
3.Keep the eye colour as close to the natural lid colour, not too light or too dark. You want to use a matte eyeshadow also, nothing too shimmery. You also want to use a colour that brings out your eyes but is still very natural looking. I use brown script eyeshadow from MAC. Try Soft Brown also by MAC.
4. Line your lashes close to your lash line. Try MAC Trackfluid in Black or Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Blackest Black. Keep the line thin on both top and bottom lash line. Apply mascara.
4. Keep the lip colour as close as possible to your natural lip colour. One thing I learnt in class is that your natural lip colour is the one inside of your mouth just before your outer lip starts. Try Covergirl Queen Collection Lipstick in Au Naturale. For me I love Clinique Think Bronze lipstick. Perfect for my natural lip colour. For women with darker skin try Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Rich Cocoa.  If you are not a lipstick fan, try MAC C -Thru or tinted Underage lipglass.

I love Bobbi Brown and her cosmetics when it comes to mastering the natural look. I think she is the queen of making women look pretty with simple and natural looking makeup. Check out her line Bobbi Brown Makeup.

The whole point of natural makeup is to look like a more pulled together version of yourself. Evened out skin, simple and pretty.

Classic look- inspired by Audrey Hepburn

Hey Beauties, this was me yesterday. I think a red lip for work is fine as long as its a really subtle shade. I did a neutral eye with a red lip and my pearls to add to the classic look.  I also did my hair in a bouffant - Inspired by Audrey Hepburn in one of my favourite movies- Breakfast at Tiffany's. I love classic movies. Don't mind the cleavage, I had a jacket on at work.

I'm also in the transition of growing out my hair and so if you are like me bobby pins can become your best friend. This is an easy style for those who kept the back of their hair short. I just pinned the hair to the side and left the back down in a short of mohawk with the front in a poof or peacock. Yes black women can be inspired by Hollywood legends for every day styles :)

Audrey Hepburn's classic chic style
Imitation is the best form of flattery- me sans the tiara and the cigarette :)

Maroon Glaze Lipstick by Sacha Cosmetics

Hey Beauties,

I bought this Sacha lipstick called Maroon Glaze when I went to find a deep purple lipstick to go with MAC All of my purple life tinted lipglass (when I get it. lol planning ahead). I had seen  Maroon Glaze on their website a few times and dismissed it simply because maroon seemed like it would be a reddish lipstick so when I got to the store and picked up this lipstick and to my surprise it was a plum pink lip colour. I have alot of blue based pink lipsticks but this one was different. I imagine it would look as equally divine on someone with  darker skin. So I finally decided to wear it last night to Taco and Transformer Tuesday with my date- Kyla (lol). The tacos were subpar but the movie was great. I am a beauty blogger who loves transformers. I think if Optimus Prime was human he would be a really sexy man. (lol) Plus I wanted to see what all the hype was about Rosie Huntington- Whiteley. She is one gorg woman and her lips are not as big as people make them seem but they are different I guess. Any way so yes here is Maroon Glaze from Sacha Cosmetics which you can find online at Sacha website <--Just click the link.  ( I seriously think they should rename it). I decided to pair it with Lorac Baked Satin eyeshadow in Social and MAC Smolder Eye Khol on my eyes and MAC Raizin Blush on my cheeks.

Lined my lips with a similar shade lip pencil first before applying the lipstick. This helps it to last longer. I woke up today with pink lips after removing it with makeup remover wipes.

No Flash, Natural Lighting

Simple eye using LORAC Social

I think it has a different shade depending on the lighting. It looks really pink here
Amazing smooth lipstick. It also smells really good.
The finished look. oh yeah I am almost blonde again. No green hair this time around yay!

Leaving the beach after tacos to go see Transformers. Sorry about the angle. I am my own photographer most times.
