Red lipstick Challenge

Hi Beauties, In my quest to get more women to wear red lipstick I picked up two reds that were complete opposites, both from Revlon and can be found in any drugstore or walmart. I love Revlon lipsticks because you get the quality you'd expect from a higher end brand for a drug store price. And one of their spokespersons in none other than Ms. Halle Berry. At Shoppers's Drugmart I picked up Really Red which is a Matte bright Orangey Red. I love this colour with animal print or I can see it with a jade or bright green outfit. It's on the matte side so its not too creamy and I think any one who is brave enough can pull off this colour. If you are on the lighter side, it might be a bit bright when you first put it on but wearing red is all about confidence. To tone it down a bit you could always wear a darker red or brown lip liner underneath. This has become Mo's favourite new lip colour.  You can see her wearing it here Mo wearing "Really Red" .  The second one I got was on the darker side called "Black Cherry" and it looks just like that. Its a Super Lustrous Creme lipstick so it goes on creamy and smooth. In pics it looks more red than it does in person. This is perfect for women who want to wear a deeper more toned down red lipstick- the not so brave ones lol. Both lipsticks were on sale for $6.99 each.

I am challenging you to go out and try either or a red lipstick that you've been wanting to try. Send me pics pls. Remember my red win-free-lipstick.

REALLY RED- I am wearing it right now and its a lil bit drying so you would want to make sure your lips are super moisturized.

Go out and find your perfect red ladies!

Pink for the tatas:)

Hey beauties, Wow it's October already. Oh yeah it must be because the weather has been miserable. *SIGH* Well one good thing that comes out of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so to show my support to all the women who have been affected and will be affected by it, I embraced pink :) (its sad that I know so many.:( I  wanted to wear pink to show my support so I decided to rock bright pink lips to match my pink top last Saturday which was the 1st day in October. When I decided to use this look  to show my support, I thought of my friend Twana, who is one of the most fashionable people I know and who was affected by this disease at a very young age. What I love about her most besides her fashion sense is that she has the spirit of a fighter. So for our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, nieces, grandmothers and friends find a way to show your support. What will you do to show your support?

Natural Makeup

Hi Beauties, thought I'd share my natural makeup routine with you which is pretty much my every day makeup. This is for those women who also don't like to wear "too much" makeup and want  a simple every day routine. On the days that I do go to school, I don't even wear makeup (because we do each other's makeup). Bascially I  wear a bright lip and a simple eye look with eyeliner and mascara or a natural lip colour and a bright eyeshadow. We have been practising natural makeup in school alot and the routine that we use is
1. Start with an even base- foundation, concealer and powder. Choose a foundation that let's your skin's natural undertone come through or one that provides medium coverage. I like MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural or Stila Natural Finish Oil -Free Foundation.
2 Use a blush that mimics your faces natural flush (nothing too shimmery or sparkley) Just a sweep of colour ( I use matte bronzer to achieve this because I don't naturally flush pink) lol I find that for women of colour it works to mimic your skin's natural glow also perhaps use a cream bronzer or highlighter to achieve this. Try Stila's convertible color blush in Camellia or PeonyIt is Non-greasy, this creamy, sheer tint adds an inherent glow to the cheeks while lips bloom with fresh, radiant color. I also like Stila Rouge Pot in Plumeria and MAC Raizin Blush.
3.Keep the eye colour as close to the natural lid colour, not too light or too dark. You want to use a matte eyeshadow also, nothing too shimmery. You also want to use a colour that brings out your eyes but is still very natural looking. I use brown script eyeshadow from MAC. Try Soft Brown also by MAC.
4. Line your lashes close to your lash line. Try MAC Trackfluid in Black or Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Blackest Black. Keep the line thin on both top and bottom lash line. Apply mascara.
4. Keep the lip colour as close as possible to your natural lip colour. One thing I learnt in class is that your natural lip colour is the one inside of your mouth just before your outer lip starts. Try Covergirl Queen Collection Lipstick in Au Naturale. For me I love Clinique Think Bronze lipstick. Perfect for my natural lip colour. For women with darker skin try Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Rich Cocoa.  If you are not a lipstick fan, try MAC C -Thru or tinted Underage lipglass.

I love Bobbi Brown and her cosmetics when it comes to mastering the natural look. I think she is the queen of making women look pretty with simple and natural looking makeup. Check out her line Bobbi Brown Makeup.

The whole point of natural makeup is to look like a more pulled together version of yourself. Evened out skin, simple and pretty.

Win a Free Lipstick!

Hi Beauties, Its been ages since I did a contest but I got the inspiration from a quote someone on makeupbee.com recently sent me telling me how gorgeous red lipstick looks on me. I remembered seeing my mother wear red lipstick and red lipstick only but I was always to hesitant then one day a few years ago  I decided to try one of her reds and at first I was like wow that's bright and my lips look so full so I asked my mom what she thought and she said "it doesn't look quite right on you." At that moment she had confirmed my fears that I could never pull of red lipstick. I felt defeated and started taking it off but she started smiling and said " it doesn't look right because you need to wear it with confidence."  She was right. If you have ever worn red lipstick you will know if you don't wear the colour, its a colour that will wear you and over power you. You need confidence to rock red lipstick. Every time I put it on now I feel empowered, sexy and confident, especially if its the perfect shade for me. I find now when I go makeup shopping I always go to the red lipsticks to see -what I can find. To date I think I own bout 15 or so red lipsticks. Today I decided to do a poll on facebook and ask all the black and brown women on my friends list if they wear red lipstick, It will be interesting to see the poll results. Already I see some women who I think would love gorgeous in red lipstick saying no, which is such a shame. So to help the situation I decided to do a contest.

If you answer my poll question " Do you wear red lipstick" and you are a follower or become one, you will be entered into the draw to WIN A FREE RED LIPSTICK THAT I THINK WILL SUIT YOU or if you have one that you want to try and I can find it here. For those not on my facebook, you can answer the question in the comments and become a follower or suggest to a friend  if you already are and you will be entered.

Contest ends on 16th October 2011 at 12:00 am. You must be at least 16 to enter.
Your name will be selected randomly from a draw and I will post the winner here and on facebook. You will have a week to claim your prize. I am allowing all Geographic locations to participate. So when you do win and I contact you, you will have to provide you full name and mailing address for me to ship to your location. Good luck ladies.

Trust that I will find a red lipstick that looks amazing on you... :) I will!!!!

Pin Up Cheetah Look

Hi Beauties, so for my first Halloween idea I decided to put my most favourite things together Red lips and Animal Print. I guess you could say this look is a combination of pin up girl with the classic red lips and red nails and cheetah with the cheetah print eye makeup and accessories.  Hence " Pin Up Cheetah". Warning! This is not the Chester cheetah look from the Cheetos Commercials nor is this a look one of the Cheetah girls would have rocked (then again maybe they would have) This is a little bit sexier. If you don't want to dawn a full costume for Halloween which I find to be a lot of work (I've been planning a costume in my head every single day now for the past two weeks with one month left to go), try pulling inspiration from pieces of clothing or accessories you already own in your wardrobe. A lot of the times I get inspired by makeup.

MY EYES ARE SHINING AND ODDLY ENOUGH SEEM CAT LIKE :)

YOU NEED ATTITUDE TO PULL OF THIS LOOK.

FACE: Primed with Gosh Velvet Primer then applied MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation NW43 on the perimeter of my face then MUFE MAT Velvet Foundation in 70 on my cheeks for more coverage.

 TO ACHIEVE THE EYES:
My brows were filled in with MAC Embark eye shadow. I applied Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin then MAC Mini Pigment in Rushmetal across the entire lid blended upwards to the brow bone. For more intensity, I sprayed the brush with MAC Fix Plus Spray and applied Rushmetal wet on to the lower lid. To get the cheetah spots, I used Annabelle Liquid Liner in Blackout and made small C shaped spots all over the eye.Let it dry. I then lined the top lash line with MAC Smolder Eye Khol and winged it out to get a cat eye efffect. On the bottom lash line, I smudged Smolder with a smudger brush. Applied two coats of Maybelline Colossal Mascara. This look is pretty easy to achieve.
I went downtown like this and ended up at Starbucks. I got a few compliments on it but mostly strange looks like people where trying to figure out what they were looking at. It was pretty funny.

 FOR THE LIPS:
I lined just the edges of my top and bottom lips with MAC Smolder eye Khol then applied Black Radiance El Dorado then a coat of LA Colours Luscious Wine and blended all together to even out the black liner. I topped it off with Stila Joy Lip Enamel from the Barbie Collection. My beauty mark is also from the eye liner :)
FOR MY CHEEKS:
I contoured with MAC Embark then applied MAC Raizin blush over it along with MAC Brown Script eyeshadow then Coastalscents Dark Bronzer from the apples of the cheeks and blended upwards to the temples. I wanted my cheeks to stand out. I also contoured my nose with MAC Embark. I highlighted my cheeks using Hard Candy Tropics Bronzer to achieve that cat like face my cheeks and nose had to be more defined.

I hope I gave enough instructions and pictures for those of you who might want to try this. Stay tuned for my next look, not sure what it will be yet. Maybe I'll paint my face green and say its Shrek. lol
If you have any looks you want me to try, hit me up and let me know.

Soft and pretty makeup

Hi Beauties, This is my look from Friday last week I think. I went to BodyShop again to pick up two more eyeshadows 04 and 06 ($8). Buy one, get one half off sale. What I like about these shadows is that when u apply them the true colour comes out but on their own they just look like silver or white shimmery shadows. BodyShop Makeup is really under-rated. I love their products because they are mostly affordable and really good quality. Go check out their nearest BodyShop store and check out their makeup section. http://www.thebodyshop.ca/ There's a sale going on right now until the 2nd Oct, 30% off! Check it out
Tres feminine :)
