Colour me Copper!

Hi beauties. Hope you are having a fab weekend. My weekend has been eventful so far. Went out withe girls last nite but did not get to take ne pics, I saw a request in the comments to show the copper eyeshadow I got from coastal scents. It is a little bit darker than coppering by MAC which is my favourite copper eyeshadow but I like it. I must reiterate- EVERY WOMAN OF COLOUR SHOULD OWN A COPPER EYESHADOW.

Last night I wore supreme copper with MAC Amp it up-  very bubblegum pink lipstick. It was rather unexpected spur of the money thing but it worked out- i liked it! Today I went to a baby shower and decided that since I didn't get to take pics last nite, I would rock copper eyeshadow today again. I went for a golden goddess look.

Eyes: supreme copper
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Inter view- has three colours. I used the bronze and copper in my crease and outer V.
NYC Liquid Eyeliner
Maybelline Collosal Mascara

Eyebrows: MAC Kohl pencil in Molasses

Face: MAC Studio Fix Powder plus foundation NW43
MAC Studio Fix concealer NW 40
Rice powder
Clinique Bronzer in true bronze on cheeks

Lips: Stila lipgloss (doesn't have a name but its a gold/bronze colour)

Blue flower in the hair for a pop of colour.

So here's my look. Go out and create your own with your favourite copper eyeshadow. Stay true. Stay beautiful.

Let's have a face to face

green tea makeup remover wipes

cucumber makeup remover wipes

conair facial spa

my home made toner in the witch hazel bottle

my second love, next to bags and makeup

Hi Beauties, Its the weekend! After a long week, I need to wind down. Guess what? I went shopping for beauty products today. I ran out of makeup remover wipes so I said let me see if i can find some in town..... And I did. I found some really affordable wipes at Dupont's. I think its called Triumph Beauty Store now. There are from a brand called Cala and I got the green tea and cucumber wipes. Green tea for anti-oxidants and cucumber for puffiness and soothing. They have 30 sheets in them so if you use one a day it can last you the whole month. All for $7.95 EC. I will be using the green tea one in few minutes.

I am going out with the girls tonight, so I am gonna perhaps do a steam facial with my conair steam facial spa where I add some tea tree oil and a bay leaf or lemon juice or try the turmeric mask again. Every girl should try a steam facial. it really helps clear your pores. Check out the links if you are interested in getting a facial spa. http://www.walmart.com/ip/HoMedics-Facial-Spa/14540366?sourceid=1500000000000007346330&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=14540366
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=conair+facial+spa&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=7862537975410029935&ei=ynhMTebULYP68Abahb2jDg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=image&resnum=4&ved=0CEgQ8gIwAw
Oh also I make my own toner. I don't like the toners they sell in the store -either they are too mild or too harsh so I made my own. I use 1 part witch hazel to 2 parts alcohol- 70% and a few drops of tea tree oil. You can find these at the supermarket or your local drugstore.

I am gonna rock a jersey mini skirt with a leopard print top- obsessed with animal print. In fact I am gonna research brands with leopard print inspired makeup or detailed in the packaging and do a post on it. I also got some new earrings which I can't wait to rock. And I think I'll rock that supreme copper eyeshadow that I got from coastalscents.com

If you are going out tonite, take an hour to give yourself a facial or a mani or pedi and you'll see how it pumps you up for your nite out. U will feel like a million bucks- sexy and confident after you've treated yourself.

I hope for Valentine's Day your loved ones give u beauty products or a day at the spa instead of flowers or chocolate. I've hinted to my bf that I want makeup or shoes- flowers will die and chocolate will give me a migraine and make me fat. lol

I should do a look for V Day. Note to self.

Enjoy your nite out if u are going out and if you r staying it- make a nite of it and treat yourself- try out Omo's clay mask or something else you've seen on the blog. I used to spend friday nites trying out make up looks or random beauty tips.

I will keep the posts coming and you stay beautiful- inside and out.

Hav a fab weekend!!!

Goodies to make you feel good.

coastalscents goodies and packaging.

brushes and concealer

rice powder

5 matte bronzer samples

multipurpose mineral concealer

supreme copper

me today @ my IT course. getting certified in E Commerce- booyah!

Hola, my beauties, hope everyone is having a great week. I know being a woman is hard but I wouldn't change it for the world except at the end of the month.lol Yesterday I was telling my bf how I felt so odd- like I wasn't in my own skin- wierdest feeling ever but today I am feeling much better. Must be the hormones.lol So I just received my coastal scents goodies that I just ordered like a week ago- that was fast. Their shipping is really fast and reliable and they ship world-wide. They are based in Florida so I get my package sent to my Miami mailing box and it gets there like in a day or 2. Another thing I love about coastalscents is that you can buy samples from them if you wanna get a product but you are not totally sure you can buy the sample size and test it out to help you make a decision and they are super affordable.

I got some kosher grade rice powder sample- 2 oz. When I heard 2 oz I was like oh its gonna be a little thing but I got this container that was way bigger than I thought it would be. Rice powder is supposed to be really good at absorbing oil. If you have really oily skin like me, you want to try rice powder so I will give it a go for a few days and see how it works.

I got two brushes-C224 Oval camouflage brush for $3.49 which I will use to apply concealer and the flawless chisel face brush for $4.49.This top quality brush is used for applying your finishing powders, foundation powders & a sheer brush of All Over Face Finishing powders. It feels so amazingly soft to the touch. Both brushes are very affordable, good quality and got great reviews.

I have been searching for a matte bronzer for a while now, all the bronzers I have are all shimmery and I just wanted one bronzer for contouring my face so I got a sample matte bronzer set from coastalscents for  $3.95. There are 5 sample size matte bronzers- Jennifer, Penny, Christina, Melissa and Justina. Can't wait to try them all.

I also got a sample of their multipurpose mineral concealer for $2.00. The normal size is for $10.00. This is the description on the website.
Now you can camouflage any skin condition like spider veins, rosacea,  age spots, and minor scars. This is the product that you have been looking for.
After months of hard work and constant formulating we finally have a concealer that holds up to our high standards. Concealer A can be used by all skin tones, it goes on smooth and creamy like a liquid, covers dark under eye circles, dark lids, red spots, spider veins, minor scars and more.
Our best advice is to always apply with a good concealing brush made especially for this purpose. The taklon hairs do not absorb the concealer as a natural hair brush will. It also gives a fine even application.

Due to the strength of pure pigments you only need a very small amount for coverage.

And with each purchase from CS, you receive a free eyeshadow sample. I got supreme copper. They must have known I love copper eyeshadow. The colour looks amazing. Can't wait to try it

Shopping on CS for makeup and beauty products makes TOTAL sense- They products are super affordable, their shipping is fast, affordable and reliable, the products are good quality. I mean you can get to sample a product before u fully commit- this is very important when you are buying make up especially powders and foundation. And their service is great- one time a brush i put in alcohol came apart and they sent me a new brush right away to replace it. NB- Clean your brushes with soap and water and not alcohol.

I am off to try all my goodies.

Stay beautiful- inside and out.

Black Radiance lipcolour in El Dorado Red

Eye colour from my 88 shimmer palette from coastalscents.

Gold eye shadow is my fav. Love it!

Hi beauties,

Its 11:40 pm and I should be in bed but instead, I'm getting excited about my pink nails. Ladies if you are ever feeling low or down, just slap on some hot pink nail polish and your mood will change instantly. I am also looking forward to my recent purchases from elf cosmetics. They had a huge Valentine's Day sale- 50% off and I love their products- they are good quality for ridiculously affordable prices. I got like 5 of some products that were like $1 dollar each. I also did some sample shopping on coastalscents- love their mineral products. I got a sample of rice powder which is supposed to be good for oily skin so I will try it and see if it works for me. I am shopping around for a makeup train (the carrying case) my b\f threw away my old one when he was moving and I also need a makeup brush belt for when I am doing makeup on other people. www.eyeslipsface.com has a brush belt for 15 US that I think I am going to order and I could probably find the makeup train at walmart.com or amazon or ebay because my collection is getting a little too big. Confessions of  makeup junkie.lol

Products I am super excited about! Covergirl Queen Collection Lipsticks. Heard they received rave reviews and are superpigmented and you know how I like my bright coloured lipsticks but I'm also looking for some good nudes and low key pinks. So in this collection I am getting nude attitude,au naturale, girly pink and powder puff pink which is a bright pink colour- couldn't help myself. So ladies go out and look for these colours made for women of colour at your local drugstores or www.drugstore.com for $5.99- buy one get one 50% off or amazon.com.

I am also super excited about finding another perfect red lipstick. This time from black radiance which is another brand for women of colour. Perfect tone lipstick in 5016- Think its called El Dorado red on their website. www.blackradiancebeauty.com This red surprised me in so many ways. It looks very dark like  burgundy in the package but when you put it on it looks like a bright vivid red. A- MA-ZING! I actually stole this colour from my mom who is my inspiration when it comes to fierce red lips. No one can work a red lip like my mother. I will be getting a few more black radiance perfect tone lipsticks. Hi, my name is Shyne and I am a lipstick junkie.

The power of an eyeshadow primer is amazing. I took a pic of my eyeshadow after bout 10 hrs of wear and it was still popping. My purples come from my coastalscents smokey eye palette and my GOSH pigment. If you don't own urban decay eyeshadow primer potion, you shouldn't even be wearing eyeshadow. This stuff is addictive and worth all $18! www.ulta.com or sephora.com sell this top seller primer. I use sin cus I love the bronze/gold tone.

Every girl of colour needs to own a GOLD eyeshadow- simple as that!

Until then..."It is beauty that captures your attention, personality that captures your heart."

Take time out for yourself.... home remedies continued

Thanks to one of my fav beauties Omo, I now have my first guest blogger. And Omo.. I am waiting for more posts from you later on. Ladies, its all about taking time out of the day for yourself. So while you are relaxing at home try out this home made mask for oily skin from Omo and her grandmother. lol

Clays for oily/acne prone skin

Hello All,

This is long overdue but I am glad I have finally gotten to this.
My name is Omo and I am based in cold Toronto, Canada well the weather is not
bad at the moment, it could be worse. Thank you Shyne for allowing me guest blog
Today I will be talking about clays yes you read right, clays. I wont go into definitions of clays because you can do a google search on that but I will however talk about a clay regimen that I currently do and can say has worked for me.  I have ridiculously oily skin that I used to be soo ashamed of until I did some research and found out some interesting details about oily skin and skin cancers, wrinkles (not that I am bothered, wrinkles tell stories or show signs of wisdom or strength in my opinion) and a whole lot of benefits for my skin this will be discussed much later.  I have been using clay for a long time though not frequently. My background is Nigerian and my grandma introduced me to clay at 11 or 12yrs old and the benefits of clay especially red clay (in my dialect called iyepe funfun) my grandma used the clay to exfoliate and tone her skin and told me it would make your face soft and make it easy or the “pomade” to penetrate your skin now she knew “pomade “ as lotion  I wont call her a beautician or cosmetologist; she did however carry out a lot of experiments, mix a lot of body lotions and soap and added red clay to her talc powder and called it foundation . I miss her.

I have continued to use some of her recipes and so far for my skin tone they work. I have acne and some months are worse than the others but the bottom line for me is this, if my diet has been good and I have kept away from a lot of the sweet and processed foods my skin will be fine, if I haven’t then I have little “domes” on my face as I sit here typing this, I have these “domes” and yes you get an A+ for that My diet in the last month has been terrible; I will get better.

Now for the Red clay mask you need
1 tabsp of red clay (Ghassoul pronounced “rassool”) I get mine from local Middle Eastern shop in Toronto
lemon juice ( ½ a lemon)
2 tabsp water
3 drops castor oil
2 drops olive oil
There are a variety of recipes for this mix and for me it changes with my mood, I may decide to switch out the water and use milk, or replace one of the oils with 1/4teasp of honey it is totally up to you!

Mix this thoroughly then using a brush or your fingers, apply generously to your face, avoiding your eye area take it down to your neck as well Let is sit on your face until it is dry  you will notice that as it dries you feel your skin tighten its ok , then rinse off with warm water followed by rose water or any toner to tone your face and your favourite lotion.

I will be bringing more recipes to you, you can google up some more recipes or learn more about clay and its benefits not just for your face and neck, your hair and skin as well.

Have a fantastic weekend beauties until next time

Weekend Beauty

So I have been researching face treatments for oily skin for a week and finally found some all natural home remedies that I thought I would give a try. The one that I decided on was a turmeric face mask.

Lemon juice, flour, turmeric powder- Make a paste. (Use all purpose flour) Plain yogurt can be used in place of lemon juice. Apply all over the face except the eye area. Let dry. Rinse. The acids in the lemon juice treat dark spots on the face clearing the complexion. Turmeric brightens the look. (Lemon juice might cause a tingling sensation). Feel the fresh and oil-free skin afterwards.

Turmeric powder found at valumart. Mix all three ingredients till you get a paste. I used half of a lemon and then applied it to my face and left it to dry for bout 20 mins.

my complexion is visibly brighter. look at my face compared to my neck.

After putting on my makeup I wasn't so worried. I was glowing and loved it!

When putting on the mask, you'll realise your face might smell like curry. lol This is because the turmeric is used in curry powders. Also you will feel a tingling sensation. This is from the lemon juice. It gets pretty itchy but try not to scratch. It takes about  15 mins to dry. Taking it off, be very gentle because it dries into a hard mask so just use a warm damp towel or wash cloth to remove the mask. After taking it off I realised my face was noticeable yellower.lol My normal skin undertone is reddish golden brown and I looked slightly cooler with yellow undertones but this is from the turmeric so after you take the mask off be sure to wash your face with a gentle cleanser like cetaphil to remove excess turmeric colouring. My face looked noticeable BRIGHTER. There is no doubt about the brightening effects of this mask. In terms of treating oily skin. I noticed I produced less oil during the night when I went out. I only had to dab once with my oil blotting sheet. And my old acne scars honestly were visibly lighter after the mask. I will be trying this again. And I don't smell like curry any more. Its morning and I still look like I have a bright glowing complexion. I love it. I will use this mask again tomorrow.
I do not know how the turmeric will react on darker skin but if you are darker and try it please try it when you have no where to go, just in case it doesnt turn out like you planned.

Stay tuned for my first guest blogger post from my girl Omo. She also did a post on mask for oily skin that works for her.

Until then my beauties, stay true to yourself. stay beautiful
