Would you rock orange lips?

Hi beauties,

Sorry for the neglect.
So my mom got me some MAC goodies a few weeks ago and since then I have been so busy and also sick I haven't gotten a chance to update much. I have already experimented with most of my goodies but on sunday I decided to wear MAC Morange lipstick to church. It is a bright matte orange lipstick , probably too bright for me so what I did was wear it under a MAC amplified red-orange colour of which I can't tell you the name because it rubbed off and I have been trying to find it on their website but no luck. Any way I wore the red colour as a base then wore Morange over it and it worked out. I also put my MAC lip tint which has a coral-orange sheer colour on top for some gloss. This is after church so it might look a lil worn and then I wore it later to a photoshoot. Pics below.Let me know if you would try this trend for summer. I am also wearing a bright neon orange nail polish from Color Club called Electric sunset that I borrowed from my mom cus she wouldn't even wear it. Love it so I don't think she'll be getting it back. I am looking for orange blush to rock in the summer as well. Renember don't discount a shade just because it doesn't look perfect on you right away you can always experiment and make it work for you.

inspiration colour. I am a big kid at heart lol

Next post would be some random photos from pageants over the months I think and I also have to do a post on the individual lashes I put it on saturday night. I am wearing them in the photos above. Super excited about that. I got some medium flare individual lashes today so I cant wait to try those.

My take on J-Lo's Into You Video look

Hi Beauties,

So if you haven't seen J-Lo's new video for her latest song "Into You" Click here to watch it J Lo. I must admit that I've always been a fan of her style. She has the best skin in the business. After seeing how her skin was glowing in this video I started taking my fish oil tabs again ( Omega 3 fatty acids great for your skin).  I love the styling in the video too. It was like modern  twist on a tropical aztec look. Three things about her makeup that should out to me:
1. Glowing Skin- bronzed and highlighted
2. Dramatic Smokey eyes
3. Sexy Nude lips

So I went out with my girls on Friday and decided to put my own twist on her look.

For the look:
Eyes: MAC Pigment in Gold Stroke (pale gold) and Bronze( for the outer v)

L'oreal Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner in Black ( used an angle brush to draw the line in the crease)
Maybelline the Colossal Volume Express in Glam Black

Face: Luminess Airbrush Makeup in 7 (will do a post on the air brush system later)

Cheeks: Quo baked bronzer and Black Radiance Mosaic

Lips: Covergirl Queen Collection lipstick in Au Naturale

I have so many more looks to post like my version of rihanna's who that chick video look.  I just need to find the time. Stay tuned for more and stay beautiful.

P.S. most of the pics are taken with my black berry cam cus I hate to walk around with my camera. I am thinking of doing a video though. Finally!!!

Would you try this trend?

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Lately I've been thinking even though I love my red lipstick I am bored with lipsticks and lip glosses and tinted lip balms so I went searching for the next trend when it comes to lips. And guess what I found............
TEMPORARY LIP TATTOOS
This company called Violent Lips Click here to go to their store Violent Lips came up with the concept of tattoos with cool designs for lips. I love it. There are tutorials for on the site on how to wear these tattoos on your lips.  Keyshia Cole was spotted in a pr of the pink cheetah pr on 106 and park and they looked good on her. I have no doubt that women of colour can't try this trend too. They cost arounf $14.95 US  for three prs in pack and I think although the tutorial looks easy it would be hard to cut out the shape for your lips without some practice. There are many designs some of my favourites are :
Pink Cheetah

The Leopard

keyshia cole in temp lip tattoo on 106 and park
EACH VIOLENT LIP PACKAGE INCLUDES THREE TEMPORARY LIP TATTOO APPLICATIONS
FREE SHIPPING* IS AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME

Would you give these a try? I am definitely sold I will try the pink cheetah and the pink polka dot maybe the red and black animal print.

If you get bored easily like me with your beauty routine keep searching and experimenting, who knows you might come up with the next trend in beauty.

Do it yourself (DIY) project (Saving my fashion jelwery)

So not only I am a makeup and beauty product junkie, I am also an accesories junkie. I love anything from earrings, necklaces, bangles to belts, shoes, hair accessories, bags and sunglasses. I think the accessories are what make an outfit. You could rock a plan white tee and jeans and take it to another level with the right accessories. So I buy alot of fashion jewelry and one thing I hate about fashion jewelry is that it doesnt have a long shelf life.  My gold plated jewerly usually last about 5 wears before turning or losing its colour then I would have to throw them or buy two prs if i really like the style. This is because it reacts with the sweat and oils in your skin which wears off the colour. I thought besides putting clear polish on my gold fashion jewelry what else can I do to save them? It hit me that I should take a trip to the hardware store since we don't have a real craft store here. I just went hoping to find something to help perhaps a gloss protector or some craft metallic paint to paint them over. I told the guy what I wanted and he carried me to the spray paint section and handed me a can of gold spray paint. I was looking at him like spray paint??? Is this safe? So he told me to read the label and I found out that it is safe as long as you don't apply it to Styrofoam  and spray in a ventilated area. So I bought it and took it home to save a fav pr of earrings and a bangle. Here are the results...
DISCLAIMER: PLEASE FIND OUT IF YOUR SKIN MIGHT REACT TO SPRAY PAINT AS IT IS A CHEMICAL.
Krylon Metallics Spray Paint used on metal. Not on Styrofoam.

Earrings before and after

Bangle Before and After

Earrings before and after

VERDICT: I am happy with the results. The colour of the spray paint is a little bit richer and less glossy so I added some clear nail polish over all of them to add some gloss. My mom loved the idea so much she brought her jewelry for me to spray.  I am going to check other hardware stores for variations in colour and still search for something like a gloss protectant. Using the spray paint reminded me of Kwame working on his art when I used to be in Hali. (good memories) check out his blog to see his work. http://andrewkwame.blogspot.com/.  If you have tips for saving your fashion jewelry let me know. Hasta...

Bored at work?

So I was bored at work as usual, procrastinating while looking at all the reports on my desk and then I found this amazing website. Its like the developers took the idea right out of my head.  I always said when I get my own line of makeup I would create a software that allows you to see how it looks likehttp://www.taaz.com/makeover.html#tab=blush&mId=0. www. taaz.com is a website where you can use a photo of yourself or a model to try out different colours, of foundation, lipstick, lip gloss, eyeshadow, blush and bronzers. You call also try out different hairstyles and sunglasses which is also totally cool . It is free to sign up and easy to use. But the most amazing thing about this site is it actually uses different brands of makeup for you to test out on your own photo or the model you choose. I was just playing around with it and chose a model to see what I could do. I found this amazing shade of plum lipstick by covergirl  called pick me up pink and a cute hairstyle by Gabrielle Union that if I ever go back to long I think I'd wanna try it. So for the makeup junkies like me, this is something you would wanna try when you want to probably shop for makeup online and you can't go to the store to try the colour or shade. Here's the look I created.
Back to my reports. Have a good one beauties.

More beauty secrets- My review of Mizani hair products.

Have you ever heard of Mizani? Its the ultimate in black hair care. I love the mizani products and have used nothing else since I found it especially their shampoos and conditioners. I discovered this line back in Halifax about 5 years ago and I have stuck with it like glue because it does wonders to my hair. I choose to wear my hair short most of the times for aesthetic reasons ( it suits my face better than long hair) but even though I don't have length I have health. I do alot of crazy stuff to my hair. In fact I have been every colour in the rainbow which is bad for my hair and I've worn weaves which damage my hair line. Right now I have highlights in which could mean alot of breakage. I have tried to cut back on the heat I use by setting my hair in rollers and I use my Fulfyl® Conditioning Treatment . This conditioner combines the elements most vital to hair's health - protein and moisture- into one balance-sustaining formula for the basic maintenance of the hair. This unique fusion provides a microscopic layer on the cuticle to seal-in moisture and prevents heat surface damage. I use it as a deep conditioning treatment where I leave it on my hair for 30 mins under a dryer or I just use it as a regular conditioner and leave it on for 15 mins with my foil cap. It leaves my hair so soft!

This is my current hair situation:

Here's a little history on Mizani:

In Swahili, the word "MIZANI" means balance and refers to the central concept behind the brand. Each MIZANI formula whether used alone or in combination, gently works to balance the forces of beauty and chemistry, creating radiantly healthy hair. The founding principle of the brand is "Beauty and Chemistry in Balance." The balance refers to the moisture protein equilibrium that endows hair with the strength and flexibility it needs to stay healthy.
Today, MIZANI, a division of L’Oréal USA, is a complete line of professional treatments, relaxers, shampoos, conditioners, and styling products designed to meet the expanding needs of today’s global beauty. Through its advanced, patented technology, MIZANI has discovered new ways to care not only for the hair, but for the scalp as well. Each MIZANI formula is customized to suit the individual needs of each hair type. From naturally curly and highly textured to color-treated, relaxed and everything in between, MIZANI offers a specialized, salon-exclusive hair care system designed to restore every hair type to its ultimate state of balance.

My favourite products are
Botanifying® Conditioning Shampoo
Gentle enough to use everyday, it cleanses the hair and scalp while restoring a natural moisture balance. The aromatic blend of botanicals nourishes, soothes and massages the scalp. The lubricating emollients of the shampoo linger in the hair long after the rich lather is gone.  I love this because it does not strip your hair of your natural oils like most shampoos. Your hair actually feels so soft after you've shampooed.

Fulfyl® Conditioning Treatment

This conditioner combines the elements most vital to hair's health - protein and moisture- into one balance-sustaining formula for the basic maintenance of the hair. This unique fusion provides a microscopic layer on the cuticle to seal-in moisture and prevents heat surface damage. Best Conditioner I have ever used. Sometimes I do not even want to rinse it out how good it feels.

Thermasmooth Smooth Guard Smoothing Serum

Lightweight, leave-in thermal protecting serum buffers against heat styling damage and facilitates the use of heat tools by providing extra glide for easier manageability. The advance C3 Smoothing Complex with cationic polymers is designed to shield and polish while hair is being smoothed. Very thick so a little goes a long way when you are applying heat to your hair.

Honey Shield

PROTECTIVE PRE-TREATMENT
A protective pre-relaxer treatment with patented ceramide created to shield previously relaxed hair from overlap during relaxer touch-up application. Formulated with a moisturizing blend of honey with nourishing humectants to guard against moisture loss during relaxer services. Use as an important step to minimize breakage and damage associated with chemical over processing . I use this every time I am going to relax my hair.

Microfusion

PENETRATING CONDITIONING TREATMENT
A lightweight micro-emulsion with breakthrough infusion technology to deeply penetrate and condition the hair with moisturizing droplets of oil. It infuses the hair with jojoba and avocado oil to provide instant smoothness and conditioning. Ideal for use directly following a relaxer service, Microfusion provides enhanced suppleness, softness, and sheen. May also be used as part of a regular conditioning maintenance regimen in replacement of the traditional crème conditioner.  I use this after I have relaxed my hair.

Classic Rhelaxers

Our conditioning relaxer portfolio represents cutting edge technology and innovation, leaving hair in perfect balance. The precise combination of oils, proteins and conditioners ensures successful relaxing for all hair types and textures. I bought a huge jar of relaxer and I loved the way my hair always came out.

Rose H2O Conditioning Hairdress

An enriched hairdress containing natural oils and botanical extracts formulated to replenish moisture and add a soft, silky sheen to dry, dull hair and scalp. Rose H20 Conditioning Hairdress is rich enough to relieve itchy, tight scalps, yet so light it doesn't leave a build-up. With its unique blend of ingredients, this aromatic, creamy conditioning hairdress helps to prevent split ends and styling damage while ensuring shiny, healthy hair. This is so light compared to many greases which tend to weigh down my hair. Great for relaxed hair.

I also used the Kerafuse Deep treatment which I highly recommend and one of their holding sprays which I can't remember the name of ( it was green).

All of these products come in huge salon sizes- the shampoos and conditioners and the relaxers. So they tend to last for a long time.  Most of the products I recommended are for relax hair but mizani has a line dedicated to natural hair called  True Textures which is designed specifically to care for naturally curly hair. True Textures addresses the unique characteristics of each curl type with specific products to meet individual needs, such as moisture, frizz control, and curl definition.

Check out http://www.mizani-usa.com/default.aspx?m=10&rid=300. For more of their products lines.

If you are interested in buying Mizani products check out amazon.com or hairsisters.com or ask at your local hair products store.

Beauty Secrets

I have been keeping a secret from you. Some of you may already know but for those who don't know I will let you in on it. Have you ever heard of http://www.hautelook.com/? This is one of my secrets when it comes to finding brand names like Stila, Lorac etc online for affordable prices.

About Hautelook

A leader in online retail, HauteLook brings the thrill back to shopping through 48-hour sale events with the world's top fashion, accessories, beauty, kids and home brands. Each day, HauteLook offers discounts of 50 to 75 percent off to millions of members in the U.S. and Canada. Membership is free to join and everyone is welcome.
In the last two years, over 1,000 high profile brands have chosen HauteLook to host more than 2,500 private events for women, men, kids, home, and beauty.
Get in on the site that has everyone talking: HauteLook was chosen by People as one of the top 15 ways to save money, while Extra television called it a "Virtual Shopaholic Heaven."

So Basically you sign up for free with your email and when ever they have a sale event coming up they send you an email to let you know and voila you click on the link and go check out the sales. I use it mostly for beauty products but they do have amazing sales on clothes and shoes from brands like BCBG and Michael Kors. I love this site. The trick is though if you do see something you like just grab it and click purchase because there is a limited amount of the products they have and other people are also notified of the sale just as you were. I learnt the hard way when I keep hesitating on some NYX lipsticks for like 11 bucks by the time I made up my mind they were gone. And you only have 15 minutes to hold something in your cart so you have to decide you are going to buy it. Unfortunately they don't take International Credit Cards either so you do have to get a paypal account if you want to try it out.  I use my paypal account and mail to my US mailing box. They ship to Canada also. If you tell a friend and they sign up you can also get $10 off your next purchase so do me a favour and say that I recommended you to join :) scimills@gmail.com

Recently they had a crazy sale on Lorac Cosmetics. I love this brand but like the others its pretty pricey. Well in this sale I got eyeshadows for $1.99 retailed at $17.00 and lipgloss for $2.99.

For those who want to check out Lorac Cosmetics Go to http://www.loraccosmetics.com/. The brand is also sold at sephora and ulta.com. I also got one two of the on screen duos retailed at $24.00 for only $1.99 each. Crazy right!

On Screen Duo
Powder Highlighter & Cream Eye Shadow/Liner This innovative, multi-functional eye shadow duo has everything you need to instantly create your own on or off-screen drama! In the swivel top compartment, an ultra-pearlized Powder Highlighter with soothing White Lily Extract allows for buildable coverage and an effervescent frost finish. In the lower compartment, an ultra-rich Cream Eye Shadow/Liner easily blends over the Powder Eye Highlighter for crease-proof, long-lasting color.

So go check out Hautelook and look out for an amazing sale on beauty products.

Dying to try this look

Thought I'd share a barbie inspired look from MAC that I am dying to try. Its too much for work and I haven't been invited to any cool parties to rock it just yet ( lame social life) I guess I will just have to experiment for the purpose of the blog.
I definitely have rocked that lip colour before with my stila barbie lip enamel in tickled pink but i have to try that eye look with the lips.

Mixing it up

Hi beauties,

Here's a look inspired by some bindis ( its the indian beauty mark/ third eye women wear in Hindu Culture) my boyfriend got me. It had a gold and red design so I thought I'd rock it with my red scarf, gold eyes, red lips and gold accessories. This look is an eclectic mix of Afro-Caribbean and Indian influences. Wearing a scarf on a bad hair day doesnt have to be a bad thing. I usually have bad hair days on saturday just before I decide to redo my hair for the week on Sunday so I usually rock hats or a scarf to cover my head. I decided to have a little fun with the scarf/ head wrap and try different looks.

And the winner is....

Hi beauties,

Sorry this took so long to announce but its been quite busy the last few weeks. I am working after hours on the national census and my boyfriend was here during my birthweek so now I can try to do at least one post a week. I have to share pics from his trip. Didn't do much makeup that week probably because I was out either on the beach or some adventure in the sun. I definitely got a tan that week and so did he( he needed one). I applied sunscreen like crazy that week especially to my face, which happened to be the only place that didnt really get tanned so now my face is lighter than the rest of my body til it goes back to normal (no more sun for a while) so I have been exploiting my bronzed look and using alot of bronzer lately to enhance my glow. Any who- I am officially 25 + 2. It feels great! I am still in my 20's so ain nutting wrong with that and I don't look my age :) Take care of your skin ladies. It will pay off big time when you hit 20 +20.

So the winner of my Birthday Giveaway Contest comes from St. Croix, UVI. Congratulations Rochella- You have won a STILA BARBIE TICKLED PINK LIP ENAMEL. So go out and try a barbie look and give Nikki Minaj a run for her money. Send me pics to let me know how it looked on ya.
